Vibrating Surface and Killer Waves

On the 27th alone, more than 30 aftershocks were recorded mainly at the worst affected A&N Islands with the average magnitude of 5.4. Since 1st December, there would be at least 2 earthquakes were being recorded.

The first tremor (December 26 2004) of 8.5 on RS occurred at the off west coast of Northern Sumatera, followed by a 6.2-Rs earthquake at the Nicobar Islands 23 minutes after the first seismic activity in Sumatera. The figure however was then updated to 8.9, and later to 9.0, making it the fifth largest earthquake since 1900 (info: Julie Martinez, geophysicist for the U.S. Geological Survey's Earthquake Hazards Program in Golden, Colorado.)

More aftershocks with the average magnitude of >5 were recorded. As for today, only one was detected so far at Northern Sumatera, which held the reading of 5.3.

On the cancellation of the New Year Celebration...

If you think that the PM's decision to swap all major new year celebration events with prayer sessions is 'inappropriate', you should go back to the archive of event during the time when the Thais decided to drop 1M paper birds on Thailand's Muslim south...

If I don't get back to you by New Year, do accept my early new year wish.

When I say 'hiatus', I apply it to my pointless writings...

But who knows, I might just set off the real one and will be unmissed.

Happy New Year 2005. May the new year be a better one for all of us.

One of the meaningful years...

Goodbye 2004. You will be missed... dearly.
